2009 CAR SHOWOn June 20, 2009 VMOA held its 32nd Annual Car Show in Conjunction with the NorCal Shelby Club at DeAnza College. This year's major show sponsors were Custom Alignment, Valaya Performance LLC, and Club Auto Sport & Premier Auto Sales. The show is the largest gathering of Ford Mustangs in the Bay Area. This year's show featured fantastic weather and entrants from 16 different car clubs, including as far away as Orange County. A feature of the VMOA show is the participation of visitors in a raffle and the "Best Sounding Engine" contest. Each year, visitors are provided cards listing the many local vendors who participate in the show. Visitors stop by these vendors and get 'signed off'. These completed cards are used to raffle prizes provided by the vendors. In addition to the raffle, show visitors help choose the Best Sounding Engine". Contest entrants are encouraged to 'give it their best rev' during individual trials. This year's contest was won, not by a race car, but by a late model Shelby! Awards were presented in 30 classes. In addition to a broad range of stock and modified Mustangs, the show attracted other Ford powered cars such as Shelbys, Cobras, Panteras, tribute cars such as Eleanors & Cobras, ‘60s and ‘70s Ford muscle cars and vintage Ford powered race cars. This year's show award winners and a photo gallery of the day's events can be seen at the VMOA club website www. vintagemustang.org. The love affair with the Ford Mustang is alive and well. And Thank’s to our Proud Sponsors of the VINTAGE MUSTANG OWNERS ASSOCIATION 32nd annual Car Show What Made The 32nd VMOA Car Show Successful? Answer: The Volunteers!! I applaud the club membership (and their respective families and friends) who volunteered to make this year’s car show the incredible event it is. I also want to recognize and thank the NorCal Shelby Club for their continued affiliation with the event. A number of NorCal members contributed a lot of time to this event and their efforts were valuable in putting on the event. Each year the reputation of the show steps up a notch. Our reach through mailings, flyers, and other publicity puts the show in touch with those who have attended previously. The word of mouth takes us to those who don’t know about the show and come out to the show. Entrants and visitors alike had positive marks for this year’s show. A special ‘thank you’ goes out to the car show committee. These volunteers put in the extra time for meetings and tasks to get the car show produced.Give yourself a pat on the back, you deserve it. Thanks for making our job easy. Tom & Neal Co-Chairmen More Pics Best of Show |

2009 CAR SHOW – A BRIEF RECAP
The VMOA/NORCAL SAAC 2009 Carshow was a huge success, measured by any standard. The weather was perfect, warm but not hot, with a mild cooling breeze.
The attendance was down slightly from 2008, but, given the economy, no one should complain. The totals for this year are 177, including 11 corral cars for sale and 166 show cars. The corral cars were all really good looking cars and with 11 of them, this too may be a sign of the economic times. No word yet on any asking prices or sales.
The vendor walk/raffle seemed to be a success again this year with a lot of positive feed back, especially from the vendors. Myron and Rick did a great job of laying things out this year and every thing seemed ‘close together’.
The crowd enjoyed the best sounding engine contest as they have in prior years. The good news is nobody’s blown up yet. We’ll keep this event in future shows.
The vote counting and awards ceremony went smoother this year, especially the procession of the 1st place cars.
Overall, there was a lot of positive feedback and very few negative coments. Here are two emails received Sunday and Monday:
Thank you Sally and VMOA.
I had a great time, your club is very hospitable and really friendly. This is the 2nd year in a row I have entered and I plan to make it every summer moving forward. Please thank all your officers and club volunteers for a job very well done.
Best wishes,

And….
Just wanted to thank you for the outstanding organization of your car show. From the check in, to the exquisite, roomy parking spots, the trophy presentation and friendly efficient staff. Many thanks as I know all the hard work that went into your car show. I've been attending your car show the last 6 of 7 years and this one was the most organized. It's a pleasure being a participant in a well run car show. They are few and far between. I'd like to give you and all the people involved a 1st Place Trophy for best run Car Show of 2009!
What a team effort.
Please thank everyone involved.

This show is a lot of work, but willing volunteers makes the work seem easier, and this kind of appreciation makes it well worth the time and effort. Thanks to Tom and Neal for heading up the committee and all who helped and participated.
